Free Mental Health Crisis Safety Plan Builder
A safety plan is a personalized, evidence-based tool that helps individuals recognize warning signs of a mental health crisis and take concrete steps to stay safe. The Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention, developed by Dr. Barbara Stanley and Dr. Gregory K. Brown, has been shown in clinical research to significantly reduce suicidal behavior. This model is recommended by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, and the Veterans Health Administration.
Link4Help's Safety Plan Builder walks you through six evidence-based steps: identifying your personal warning signs, listing internal coping strategies you can use on your own, identifying people and social settings that provide distraction, documenting people you can ask for help, listing professionals and agencies you can contact during a crisis, and making your environment safe by reducing access to lethal means.
Your safety plan is completely private and stored only on your device. You can export it as a PDF to print, save, or share with a trusted person, therapist, or crisis counselor. No account or login is required. The tool is free and will always remain free.
