Privacy Policy & Data Protection

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Your Privacy Matters

Link4Help™ is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of every person who uses this service. We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide you with a functional experience, and we handle that information with care. This policy describes exactly what data the service collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Browser Experience vs. Native iOS App

Link4Help is available through a normal web browser and through a native iOS app. These two routes handle advertising and analytics differently:

  • Native iOS app: The native iOS route suppresses Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Analytics (GA4), Google AdSense, Google Consent Mode, the GTM noscript fallback, the cookie-consent prompt, and Cloudflare Insights. The native iOS app does not use tracking or third-party advertising.
  • Normal browser: Pages viewed in a normal web browser may include the advertising and analytics services described in the sections below.

What We Collect

  • Account data: If you choose to create an account, we store your first name, last name, email address, a hashed password, and account and session identifiers. This information is used to provide account functionality and is not shared with advertising partners or other third parties.
  • Favorites: If you save facilities to your favorites, that association is stored securely and linked to your account.
  • Saved safety plans: If you are signed in and save a safety plan, the plan content is stored and associated with your account. Saved safety plans are deleted when you delete your account (cascade deletion).
  • No tracking of crisis searches: We do not log, store, or analyze your individual search queries, facility views, or crisis-resource interactions in application database tables or search-history tables. We do not maintain an application-level database or search-history record of individual crisis searches, facility views, or crisis-resource interactions. Technical request metadata may be processed by our hosting provider as described in the Location section.

Location

Location is requested only when you actively choose “use my location.” You can always search by ZIP code or city/state without granting location permission.

When you do share your location, the coordinates are used to return nearby results and are not stored in any application database table or search-history table.

Because coordinates are transmitted as part of the search request, they may appear in host-level access logs maintained by our hosting provider. We cannot confirm the exact fields, retention period, or deletion behavior of those logs at this time; we will update this section when the hosting provider supplies that information.

Push Notifications and Device Tokens

The iOS app includes Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for push notifications. When you enable push notifications, a device token, platform identifier, and timestamps are stored by the application.

In the current application schema, the device token is not linked to a user account. The token is processed by Apple (APNs) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) before it reaches our service.

There is currently no automatic expiry or deletion mechanism for stored device tokens. We do not promise token deletion or expiry until such a mechanism is implemented.

Safety-Plan PDF Export

When you generate a safety-plan PDF, the plan content you submit is sent to the Abacus.AI HTML-to-PDF rendering service, which converts it to a PDF and streams it back to you for download.

The application does not create any object-store file, queue entry, database row, PDF URL, user identifier, or IP log as part of this process.

The Abacus.AI rendering service acts as a data processor in this flow. We cannot confirm its internal retention behavior from our application; please refer to the Abacus.AI Privacy Policy for information on how that service handles data it processes.

Third-Party Advertising (Browser Only)

On the normal browser route, the application may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). These advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect non-personally identifiable information — such as browsing activity, device type, and general geographic location — to serve relevant advertisements. These technologies are not present on the native iOS route.

This data collection is governed by the respective advertising partner's own privacy policy. Advertisements do not constitute endorsements of any product, service, or organization by Link4Help™.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting your advertising preferences through your browser settings, or by visiting the applicable opt-out pages provided by our advertising partners (for example, Google's Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page).

Google Analytics (Browser Only)

On the normal browser route, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns, such as which pages are most visited and how users navigate the browser service. Google Analytics is not loaded on the native iOS route. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies

This application uses cookies for essential functionality (such as keeping you logged in). On the normal browser route, cookies may also be used for advertising purposes (through third-party advertising partners). You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some application functionality.

Optional Educational and Product Emails

You may choose to receive occasional educational and product emails from Link4Help and Echobridge Health, LLC. These are direct, first-party communications from us. The choice is unchecked by default, is never required to use the crisis directory, hotlines, safety planning, or any other core resource or account function, and is not inferred from your searches, safety plans, saved resources, location, or any other help-seeking behavior. We ask you directly and we do not infer your interest from how you use the app.

If you opt in, we record your consent choice, the timestamp, the source of the choice, and the version of the consent wording you agreed to. You can withdraw at any time in Account Settings, and withdrawal takes effect immediately. Deleting your account also stops outreach; a minimum suppression record may be retained only to continue honoring your opt-out.

Link4Help does not sell, rent, or provide its outreach list, saved safety-plan content, or crisis-resource search records to facilities, sponsors, advertising networks, analytics vendors, data brokers, or other third parties for marketing. Browser-route advertising and analytics practices are described separately above.

Data Security

All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms; we never store plaintext passwords. We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Important Limitations of This Service

Link4Help is an informational crisis-resource directory. It is not a diagnostic tool, a clinical service, a substitute for professional medical or mental-health treatment, or a crisis intervention service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in a mental-health crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. Always seek the guidance of a qualified health professional for any questions about your health or treatment.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under privacy laws such as GDPR (European Union) or CCPA (California). These may include:

  • The right to access your personal data
  • The right to correct inaccurate data
  • The right to delete your account and associated data
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time

Account Deletion and Data Removal

You may delete your account and all associated personal data at any time:

  • In-app: Go to Account Settings and select “Delete Account.” This immediately deletes your account, saved favorites, and saved safety plans.
  • By email: Send a request to [email protected] with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and include the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

Upon deletion, the following data is permanently removed: your name, email address, encrypted password, saved favorites, and saved safety plans. If you had opted in to educational emails, outreach stops immediately; a minimum suppression record may be retained solely to honor your opt-out.

This section satisfies Google Play's data deletion disclosure requirement for the Link4Help Android application (package: org.link4help.app).

Transparency

  • We do not accept payment from facilities for listing or ranking — facility placement is never influenced by advertisers
  • Content is regularly reviewed against current clinical guidelines
  • This app is free to use — supported by non-intrusive advertising on the browser route to sustain operations and keep access barrier-free
  • Advertisements are clearly distinguished from crisis resources and editorial content
